Liver is an important part of the body that is useful in multiple ways. It helps in lipid metabolism in the body. At the same time, liver also plays an important role in the process of digestion as it aids in secretion of digestive juices that are required for complete digestion of the foods consumed by the stomach. Unfortunately, this important body part suffers from numerous problems due to which all its functions are halted or impaired. Out of numerous diseases or disorders associated with the liver, hepatitis and jaundice are also commonly found conditions related to it.

Jaundice- It is a condition associated with the liver under which the level of Bilirubin rises in the body which in turn results in change in the color of the skin, whites of eyes and mucus membranes to yellow from their normal or natural color. The capacity of the liver to oxidize bilirubin for its conversion into bile is reduced and hence the condition called as jaundice arises in the body.

Hepatitis- On the other hand, hepatitis is a condition which is mainly caused due to viral attack on the body. Due to viral attack, the liver undergoes inflammation and hence suffers from malfunctioning. It may be categorized into acute and chronic hepatitis. The former type occurs when a person suffers from hepatitis for less than six months. On the other hand, the second condition arises when a person suffers from viral infection for more than six months. Under the condition of hepatitis, there is destruction of the liver cells.
